The Life of Mrs. Beatrice S Botterbusch

Beatrice S. Botterbusch, age 94, of York passed peacefully into the night on Saturday, March 23, 2024. She was born to N.O. and Ruth Smith in Johnstown on September 4, 1929.

Bea was preceded in death by Frederick E. Botterbusch, her loving husband of 56 years. She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Frederick E. Botterbusch, II and Janice, Mary E. Botterbusch and Robert Stevens, and Carl N. Botterbusch and Christie. She adored her six grandchildren and their spouses, Christopher and Lauren, Lauren and James, Rebecca and James, Andrew and Erica, Samuel and fiancée Elizabeth, and Lydia. Her seven great grandchildren, Thomas, Emma, Frances, Frederick, Henry, Abigail, and Emerson loved their GGB.

A graduate of IUP and Temple University, Bea was a unique elementary teacher, sharing her talents as both an art instructor and a math specialist in the Central and York City School Districts. She touched many lives as a Sunday School teacher and as everyone’s second mom in a neighborhood full of kids. Bea was a longtime member of Christ and Advent Lutheran churches, and enjoyed years of square dancing, card club, world travel, Florida winters, shore trips, and volunteering at SpiriTrust.

Most of all, Bea valued her family and the time spent at birthdays, picnics, holidays, and hosting the annual BotterBash family reunion at the beach.

A memorial service for Bea will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 947 North George Street, York. Visitation with the family will be at 10:00am, and the burial will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice, as Bea supported a wide range of worthy organizations.
