Shirley Jean Simmons Reynolds, 85, of Vinton, Va., departed this earth to her Heavenly home on Monday, March 18, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Dave and Mary Simmons; sister, Louise Basham; brother-in-law, Jack Basham; and husband of 30 years. Calvin Reynolds.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Mechille Robertson of Troutville and Barry and Carrie Robertson of Vinton; grandchildren, Mary Ann (Kyle) Robertson, Timberly (K.C.) Bratton, Ashlie (Tyler) Phenes, and Chad Robertson; and great-grandchildren, Julian Bratton, Amelia Smoot, and Eli Phenes.

Shirley was born on November 13,1938, in Franklin County, Va., and spent her adult life in Vinton, Va. Shirley was a graduate of William Byrd High School and National Business College. She retired from Anderson and Reed, LLP in Roanoke after 47 years of employment. She was also a charter member of Lynn Haven Baptist Church. She loved her church and church family. Shirley loved flowers, gardening, and spending time with her family.

The family would like to express our deepest thanks to the entire staff of Snyder’s Nursing Home in Salem for making Shirley’s last days so comfortable.

Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Oakey’s Vinton Chapel. The Funeral Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Oakey’s Vinton Chapel officiated by Bryan Crouch of Lynn Haven Baptist Church. Interment will be immediately following at Mountain View Cemetery.
