Nadine Frances Stump Epperly  August 27,1934 – March17, 2024

Nadine Frances Stump Epperly, passed away peacefully at 89 years of age on March 17, 2024 surrounded by family at her home in Moneta, Virginia.

Nadine was born on August 27, 1934 to the late Doris and Vauline Stump. She grew up in the Garden City area where she attended William Byrd High School and was a 3 sport athlete. One fateful day, while riding with a friend and the friend’s father to a store in Stewartsville, Nadine would meet the love of her life and the man that she would later marry, Frank Epperly, Jr. She and Frank shared a beautiful life together, and raised their three children to love the Lord. Nadine was a member of Saunders Grove Church of the Brethren. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved her family unconditionally. She opened their home to many that needed a safe place, a meal, or a friend.  She was a born caregiver to many children throughout her life, including the countless kids that rode her bus that she drove for 43 years for BCPS. She enjoyed taking road trips with friends and family. Nadine loved telling stories and sharing memories with anyone who would listen, and she always enjoyed telling a good joke. She has now been reunited with her beloved Frank and no doubt is trying to take care of everyone on the other side. Nadine will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and dedication to her friends and family. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love and memories she created during her remarkable life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Fleming Epperly, Jr; her parents, Doris and Vauline Stump; and three brothers, Daniel, Emory, and Ezra. She leaves behind three children; sons Albert (Susan) and Eddie (Cindy) Epperly, and daughter Edria (Chris) Wimmer, who was a dedicated caregiver for her mother; three grandsons whom she loved dearly Joe (Kelly) and Will (Ally) Epperly, and Hunter (Kandace) Wimmer, and one great grandson, Zeke Epperly; One sister, Lois Slocum and four sisters-in-law, Anne (George) Ferrel, Linda Bowles, Gloria Epperly, and Nadine Stump; numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank her care team from Carilion Hospice for the love and care that they provided to Nadine over the past several months.  A special thank you to her caregivers, Tracey Goodman and Dani Rae, who brought joy to Nadine’s last days and were a blessing to the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Stewartsville/Chamblissburg Rescue Squad. The graveside service will take place at Mountain View Cemetery on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 2 pm, with Pastor Glenn Stevens officiating. Oakey’s of Vinton will be assisting the family with the arrangements.
