The Life of Charlene Overstreet Hogan

Obituary

Charlene Overstreet Hogan was born on the first of May in 1949. She left this world on March 11, 2024 to be with her Lord and Savior, her mother, Marie Morris Overstreet, her father, Charlie Overstreet, and her sister, Susie Overstreet.

Charlene taught music at Mountain View Elementary School for over 25 years. Her love of music education extended to teaching piano privately in her home for about 12 years. She passed on the ability to play a musical instrument to her surviving son, Cole. Over the years, she was also active in her church choir and enjoyed singing. She did 'not' pass that ability on to her son.

Charlene adored her only grandchild/granddaughter, Whitney Marie Hogan. She also had 2 cats (Jet and Jack) who preceded her in death.

Charlene was a frequent audience member of 'The Hallmark Channel' and enjoyed watching their seemingly never ending Christmas romance films.

In her final months, she found peace in the living community at Brookdale Salem where she made friends quickly.

Charlene is survived by her only son/child Cole Hogan, his wife Michelle Carr-Hogan and their daughter, Whitney Hogan. She is also survived by her sister, Leigh Ann Soltis, her husband Richard Soltis, son, Stephen Soltis and daughter, Ann Marie Soltis.

Honorable mentions are her former caregivers, Brenda Copeland and Connie Grisso, and her closest friends include Ann Kelley, Ellen Hannan, and Cheryl Brenton.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 15, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Oakey’s Vinton Chapel.  There will be a Graveside Service at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton officiated by Rev. Gerald Carter.
