The Life of Gene Thomas Wells

Gene was born January 8, 1934 in Calloway County, Kentucky to Eura Glyco and Nealie Ward Wells. He attended Murray High School, Murray State College, graduated from the University of Kentucky School of Electrical Engineering and did graduate work at the University of Kentucky and North Carolina State University.

He worked for IBM in Kingston, New York, Lexington, Kentucky and Raleigh, North Carolina. He retired from G.E. Supply Co in 1996.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years Patricia Futrell Wells, his brother Fred Ward Wells of Murray, KY, his son Gene Thomas (Tom) Wells, Jr and daughter-in-law Louise Wilkerson Wells (Raleigh), son Michael Craven Wells (Carson, CA), grandchildren Cameron Wells O’Quinn (Ryan), Emory Wells Jepsen (Chris), John-Thomas Wells, great grandchildren Sophie and Charlotte O’Quinn, Phoebe and Reuben Jepsen, nephews Barry Wells (Julie) and Bradley Wells (Maritza).

Funeral services will be held at Edenton St United Methodist Church, 228 W. Edenton St. in Raleigh on Friday, December 29 at 10:00am. Visitation with the family will follow the service in the ESUMC Garden Gallery. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be livestreamed at ESUMC.org/live. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery following the visitation. Arrangements are being made by Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd. Raleigh, NC 27609.
