The Life of Charles R. Saul

Charles Robert Saul, 86, of Roanoke, VA passed away on February 23, 2024, surrounded by family and loved ones.  He is survived by his wife Peggy English Saul, two daughters Lorie Hanson (Dale) and Karen Viverette (Bill), two granddaughters Kellie and Kacie Hanson, one brother Calvin Saul (Teresa) a sister-in-law Betty Saul (predeceased by his brother Harold Saul), and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Charles was a lifetime resident of Roanoke, graduated from Jefferson High School where he earned the nickname “Kool” playing basketball, and Virginia Tech.  He returned to Roanoke after college where he started a family, subsequently retiring from American Electric Power with 37 years of service.  He was an avid golfer, loyal friend, brother and son, past member of the Backbone Club, ardent Hokie fan, member of Grandin Court Baptist Church, and foremost, a dedicated family man where he proudly served as Husband, Dad, and Poppy.  He cherished the time spent with his family and friends.

A visitation with his family will be held on February 29, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Oakey's South Chapel, 4257 Brambleton Avenue, Roanoke, VA 24018.

His family would like to thank Brandon Oaks Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for the dedication and care they have provided to him the last several years.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grandin Court Baptist Church in memory of Charles Saul.
