The Life of Elizabeth A. Ryan

Elizabeth "Beth" Ryan, 65, of Pottsville, passed away Friday, Feb. 9, 2024.

Born Aug. 19, 1958, in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late Warren and Rita (Ball) Hargraves.

Beth was a graduate of Nativity BVM High School, Class of 1976.

She recently retired to devote more time to her dream job of being a full-time "Nan-Nan."

The quintessential Super Mom, she devoted her life to her children and grandchildren (whom she lovingly referred to as her chickens and grandchickens). Beth truly believed every child was a blessing, even when those children were wreaking neighborhood havoc while calling her "Big Mama." Selfless and nurturing, her gift in life was love, and she loved her family, both blood and chosen, fiercely.

In addition to her parents, Beth was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard "Bunky" Ryan, and her sister, Christine McShaw.

She is survived by her brother, George Hargraves and his wife, Brenda; her daughter, Christine Matz and her husband, Zachary; son, Michael Buchanan and his wife, Stephanie; daughter, Sarah Snider and her husband, Lewis; daughter, Kimberly Ryan and her wife, Arielle Parry; son, John Ryan and his wife, Ashley; daughter, Rebecca Wagner and her partner, William Birster; grandchildren, Elena, Nicolas, Patric, Emily, Luke, Emma, Laykin, Kaiden and Lane; great-grandchildren, Emily, Chayse and Owen; nieces and nephews.

A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven, and a Celebration of Life ceremony will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Laykin and Kaiden Recovery Fund at CACL Credit Union, 1800 W. Market St., Pottsville, PA 17901. Funeral services are entrusted to Bruce T.
