The Life of Roger Allen Neumer

Roger Allen Neumer, age 59, son of Marian “Maxine” Surber Neumer and Robert L. Neumer passed away, Monday, February 12, 2024 at Meadowbrook Rehabilitation Hospital in Gardner, Kansas.

Roger was born at Olathe Community Hospital on January 19, 1965. He grew up in Olathe and attended Olathe schools, graduating, as a proud Eagle, in 1983 from Olathe North High School. He enjoyed music and played the trombone throughout his school career. He played football at Oregon Trail Junior High.

In his youth and growing up years, he attended Grace United Methodist Church in Olathe. He sang in both his high school choir and church choir.

Roger was employed at many restaurant establishments over the years, including a stint at Kentucky Fried Chicken where he was a cook. In later years, he joined the school bus company, and drove bus for a short while, later becoming a school bus monitor for the rest of his working years until his health deteriorated. He was a dedicated worker who was always on time to do his job.

Roger enjoyed sports and was an avid KU fan and enthusiastically supported the Kansas City Chiefs, as well as the Royals. Roger followed in his mother’s footsteps and was a talented bowler and achieved high scores at the sport, as did she. He also bowled on leagues.

He married Alicia Dawn Rushing in 2000 and from that union, two sons were born, Nathan Thomas Neumer and Kevin Jason-Milton Neumer. He also has a stepson, Jacob Kyle Morris.

He was a loving father and his sons brought great pride and joy to his life.

He was predeceased by his parents, Maxine Neumer and Robert Neumer, his wife Alicia Neumer, and older brother Thomas L. Neumer, as well as his mother and father-in-law.

He is survived by his sons, Nathan and Kevin, stepson Jacob, his Uncle Bill Haemmerle, also brother-in-law and sister-in-law Robert and Jennifer Israel.

Visitation will be from 11:00am-1:00pm on Saturday, February 17, 2024. Memorial Services will follow at 1:00pm at McGilley-Frye funeral home. Burial will be held at Olathe Memorial Cemetery, 738 N. Chestnut, Olathe, KS.
