The Life of Robert Dewey Cassell Jr

September 19, 1927 - January 31, 2024

Robert “Bob” Dewey Cassell Jr, 96, of Cary, N.C., and St. Pete Beach, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, as he would say, “in his 97th year of life.”

Left to cherish his memory is his sister, Sue Jo Cassell; his son and daughter-in-law, Dewey and June Cassell; and his daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Mike Babbin. He also was blessed with five grandchildren, Megan and Robert Cassell, and Kathryn, Caroline, and Jessica Babbin, all of whom he loved dearly.

He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Delores Cassell; his infant daughter; his mother and father, Robert Dewey and Viola Cassell; his sister, Virginia Nave; and his sister, Helen Holmes.

Bob was a World War II veteran. After his military service he went to college at Virginia Tech graduating in Architectural Engineering. He ultimately became an engineer with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, traveling extensively for both his work and for pleasure. He was an ordained Elder in the Presbyterian Church USA for many years. His love of travel, trains, National Parks, dollhouses, Legos, eating out, and the beach was only surpassed by his love of his family and God. He will be missed by many but now has the joy of an eternal life.
