The Life of James Robert McLaughlin

James Robert McLaughlin, 89, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.

He was a member and treasurer of Woodlawn United Methodist Church. James was employed at A-1 Accounting & Tax Service from 1982 to 2024. He was previously employed with First National Exchange Bank Trust Division.

James was a member of The Optimist Club and served as President. He was also involved with Troop 50 of The Boy Scouts of America as an Assistant Scoutmaster – Order of the Arrow.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Louise Gatherum McLaughlin, and is survived by his sons, Mr. James “Jimmy” R. McLaughlin II and Dr. John W. McLaughlin, both of Roanoke, Va.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Woodlawn United Methodist Church, 2922 Corbieshaw Road, SW, Roanoke.
