The Life of Ellen M. Neher
Ellen M. Neher (nee: Knight), age 86, passed away on December 4, 2023. She was the beloved wife of Thomas J. Neher for 66 years; devoted mother of Ellen & William Daley, Thomas & Carol Neher, Joe Neher, and Barbara & William Beach; loving Mom Mom to Michele & Neal, Sean & Nicole, Lauren & Vicki, Erica & Tristan, Amber & Kyle, and Tommy & Kelly; and, Great Grandmom “GG” to Liam, Liberty, Olivia, Payton, Evelyn & Sawyer. Ellen was a Philadelphia native, a proud graduate of Mastbaum Vocational Technical School Class of June 1955, and long-time Executive Secretary at INA / CIGNA. She was the matriarch of her extended family and proud of the life she built. Ellen was passionate about spending time with family and friends, decorating, crafting, crocheting, enjoying leisure time in the Pocono Mountains, and strutting along with the Mummers for many years! Ellen had a keen knack for making the people in her life feel special and she never missed a chance to celebrate her loved ones. She always had a beautifully written card for every occasion - big or small - sending love “forever and a day” or “LOL” (lots of love). Christmas was an especially welcoming time in Ellen’s home, and her bright light showed throughout the season.
Her family cherished her as the perfect Mother & Grandmother, and will hold her memory dear to their hearts. Ellen will be sadly missed by her siblings Julia, Kenny & Candy, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Ellen is predeceased by her brothers Andy, Edward, William, and her sister Gerri. Ellen’s beautiful legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing and Funeral, Wednesday, December 13, 2023 Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 1404 South 3rd Street, Philadelphia, PA 19147. Entombment will follow at Arlington Cemetery,2900 State Road, Drexel Hill, PA. 19026
