The Life of Adele Louise Battista

Adele Louise Battista, a resident of Media, PA, died peacefully on November 28, 2023 at the age of 92. She was an adoring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be deeply missed by her family.  

Born in Philadelphia to the late Kenneth L. and Louise Buehrle, Adele spent her childhood years in Yeadon, PA. Shortly after graduating from Yeadon High School in 1949, Adele married the love of her life, James A. Battista, Sr. who preceded her in death in 2006 after 53 years of marriage.  A devoted wife and mother, Adele worked tirelessly to create a loving home for Jim and their five children.   

Adele was a longtime member of Riverview Presbyterian Church in Drexel Hill, PA.  She enjoyed traveling and especially looked forward to big family vacations.  Adele loved to shop, often on a mission to find the perfect gift for family and friends.   

In addition to her husband, Adele was predeceased by her son, James A. Battista, Jr., and two granddaughters Jennifer and Shannon.  

She is survived by her children Christine Battista of Highlands Ranch, CO, Linda Hartman (Richard) of Marco Island, FL, Michele Horowitz (Barry) of Sharon, MA, and Joan Battista of Wallingford, PA; 11 grandchildren Elizabeth Keane (James), James A. Battista, III (Colleen), David W. Battista (Ashley), Joshua L. Meja (Naomi), Coryn Nelson (Joel), Ashley Fahrenbach (Joseph), Thomas J. Hartman (Laura), Morgan H. Brown (Greg), Julia D’Agata (Matt), Amanda Grinberg (Stan), and Kayla Battista; along with 17 beautiful great-grandchildren.  

Services will be held privately by the Battista family.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to Friends of Fair Acres. 340 Middletown Rd. Media, PA 19063.
