The Life of Alfonso Douglas Newton

Alfonso Douglas Newton also known as Man was born on April 20, 1959, in Chicago, Illinois to Lucille Newton-Strong with siblings Janice and Aaron.  He went to Robert S. Abbott Elementary School.  Upon graduation he attended Robert Phillip Jr. High also in Chicago, Illinois.  After moving to Buffalo, New York, he attended Bennett High School.  Alfonso joined the Air Force and arrived at MacGuire Air Force Base in the early 80’s to fulfill his love of travel and adventure.  It was then that he became “Juice”.  He served 13 years and retired as Staff Sergeant.  In 1987 he met Valerie.  They went on to spend the next 36 years together. From their union they went on to have Shannon and Denver Newton, to which they had a fun filled social life. Juice was a very hard worker. He started employment at UPS as a Package Handler and ended his career as a Ramp Safety Agent. 28 years combined employment.  He often spoke about how much he loved his job.  His coworkers were often entertained by wisecracks and his wonderful singing voice.  He made it a point to remind them of his strong resemblance to LL Cool J. Juice loved his family.   He particularly loved spending time with his grandsons, Dallas, also known as “Wink” and Shane.  He would take them on a cruise down South St to where they would go to the playground. He would indulge in Lorenzo’s Pizza along with Rita’s Water Ice on a regular basis.  He made it a point to live his life to the fullest.  Juice was an avid sports fan.  He loved all four Philly Sports Teams.  Especially the Philadelphia Eagles.  His culinary skills included Fried fish, Collard greens and barbequing on the grill.  On Sundays you could count on him listening to WDAS oldies. He effortlessly brought smiles to everyone whether they wanted to listen to him or not.  He had a magnanimous, clever and witty personality.  He will truly be missed by many.  He leaves to mourn his loving wife Valerie Newton, Daughters, Shannon, and Denver Newton, Kyanna Yazel, son, Mychael, Grandsons, Dallas “Wink” and Shane Newton, Sister, Janice Strong, Hosts of Aunts and Uncles, Nieces and Nephews, Cousins, and Friends.
The family gratefully acknowledges with sincere appreciation your comforting expressions of sympathy and every act of kindness during their hour of bereavement.
