Jim was born December 17, 1941, in Altus, Oklahoma, the son of Charles Bennie Cox and Reta Faye (Reed) Haynes.

He graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1961. He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps serving from 1962-1964, earning the Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Jim received an Honorable Discharge as a Lance Corporal December 18, 1967.

He worked at the Ford Motor Company Assembly Plant in Claycomo, Missouri retiring in 1995. While at Ford he performed many different roles in Body and Assembly Operations and earned a certificate in Statistical Process Control. He earned his Associates Degree from The Metropolitan Community Colleges in 1991. After retiring in 1995, Jim was a stay at home dad, taking care of his infant daughter Ann Marie.

Jim was a member of the Overland Park Church of Christ. He was also a life-long member of the Masons Sheffield Lodge, receiving his fifty years as a Master Mason in 2020. He participated as an election official demonstrating his patriotism to our country for many years. Jim was an avid firearms enthusiast and enjoy shooting various firearms with his family. Jim was proud of his wife Theresa, his daughter Ann Marie and son in law Brandon for their accomplishments.

Jim was predeceased by his parents Charles Cox, stepfather Cecil Haynes and Reta Haynes (Reed), infant sister Leslie Ann Adams, sister Lynne Bradshaw (Cox), sister Beckie Juarez (Haynes), grandson Travis Cox, nephew Todd Frakes, niece Melissa Frakes, niece Ashley Crook.

Jim married Theresa on November 11, 1988, at the Candlelight Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas, Nv. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include his son Jimmie, Green Forest, Ar., his son Lennie (Angela), Winslow, AR., grandson Charles and great-daughters Nevaeh, Emily, and Hazel, his son Bob, Berryville, AR., grand-daughter Clarissa and great-grandson Mason, his son Chuck (Tyler) Feagans, Merriam, KS., grandsons Graham and Cole. His daughter, Ann Marie (Brandon) Stevenson, Olathe, KS., grandson Jaxon. His brother Jack (Melinda) Haynes, Terrel, Tx. and their sons Bradley and Colby. His sister Melodie (Dennis) Stuart, Millstadt, Il.; their daughters Mandy and Denne. His sister Valerie Crook., Las Vegas, Nv.; and other nieces and nephews.

In honor of Jim, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Shriner's Hospital.
