The Life of Mr. Frederick H. Lohr

Frederick H. "Fred" Lohr, 92, of North Babylon, New York, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 3, 2023 in his daughter's residence. He was the husband of Hilde W. (Schmidt) Lohr, whom he married on April 20, 1961.

Born in Bronx, NY, Fred was a son of the late Frederick "Herby" Lohr and Loretta (Shea) Lohr. He was a devout Catholic and was a faithful member of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church, Deer Park, NY, for many years, where he also served as a Lector. Fred honorably and faithfully served his country in The United States Army during the Korean War. 

Fred was employed by United Airlines for 38 years, working as a Ticket Agent at John F. Kennedy International Airport, NYC. He was an avid reader and enjoyed watching Jeopardy on TV. He also enjoyed baseball and was a diehard NY Mets fan.

Along with his wife of 62 years, Hilde, Fred is survived by his three children, Bernard S. Lohr, husband of Lori Erb, Reisterstown, MD, Aleth B. (Lohr), wife of Frank P. Matrone, Kutztown, PA, and Kristina L. (Lohr), wife of Greg Thompson, West Linn, OR; four grandchildren, Erika L. Matrone, Dominic P. Matrone, Jake E. Thompson, and Logan Thompson; sister, Irene (Lohr) Link, Brooklyn, NY; many nieces and nephews; and was predeceased by a sister, Lorraine (Lohr) Delpup. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 9, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 14833 Kutztown Road, Kutztown, PA, with The Reverend John C. Maria as celebrant. There will be a visitation from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. in the church.

Burial with military honors will be held on Monday, June 12, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. in Washington Crossings National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA (Please arrive at the cemetery by 9:15 a.m.)
