The Life of George J. Rakar

George Rakar, 78, of Amherst, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 with his family beside him.

George was born November 13, 1944 in Cleveland, Ohio to George and Frances (Slamik) Rakar.

He graduated from St. Joseph High School in Cleveland and John Carroll University. He served as a captain in the United States Air Force. George was employed as an accountant at Ford Motor Company, retiring in 1995 after 30 years of service. He did income taxes for many years.

George is survived by his wife of 56 years, Earlene (nee Carnahan); his daughter, Jeanne Kingsbury,; granddaughters; Brittany (Brandon) Hitchens, Michaela (Kyle) Johnson, and Aubrey Kingsbury; great granddaughters, Reagan Hitchens, Wrenlee Hitchens, and Willow Johnson. His Brother, Gerald (Debbie) Rakar; nephew Steven Rakar; and his niece, Michelle Rakar.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Frances Rakar; and his brother Allen Rakar.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 from 4:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Closing prayers will be said on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral center followed by Mass of Christian of Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst. Rev. Father Timothy O'Connor, Pastor, will officiate.

Interment with Military Honors will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.

In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House or the Wounded Warrior Foundation.
