The Life of Marlo G. "Bubby" Adam

Marlo G. "Bubby" Adam, 88, formerly of Kutztown, died Sunday, May 28, 2023, at Laureldale Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Muhlenberg Township, where he had been a guest for two years.  Born in Kutztown, Marlo was a son of the late Titus S. and Margaret L. (Reppert) Adam.  He was a member of Saint John's United Church of Christ, Kutztown, where he participated in their candy making program and was a Folk Festival Stand volunteer.

Bubby honorably and faithfully served our country as a member of the United States Army.

Marlo was employed as a Mason Tender by the Laborers International Union of North America, Local 30, Reading, for over 30 years until his retirement in 1997.  He also worked part-time as a mover.

Bubby was a former member of Kutztown HOBOs; Kutztown Fire Company Truck Crew; and House Committee officer.  He also was co-owner and mechanic, along with his late brother, Alfred "Freddy" Adam, of Adam Brother's Racing, which competed at Reading Fairgrounds and along the Northeast Coast circuit.  The Adam Brother's Racing Team won the 1959 Dorney Park Championship.

Bubby is survived by five daughters: Lynn K. (Adam), wife of Al Klinger, Catawissa, Columbia County; Tracy M. (Adam) Kunkel, Humble, TX; Susan R. (Adam), wife of Joseph McKernan, Douglassville; Kelly L. Adam, Kutztown; and Cathy L. (Adam) Smith, Shawnee, OK.  Other survivors include eleven grandchildren: Kayla D. (Shoemaker) Moyer; Ashlyn M. Shoemaker; Adam J. Shoemaker; Hunter N. Kunkle; Tytus A. Kunkle; Wyatt A. Laigaie; Emma P. Laigaie; Maggie T. Laigaie; Brenden J. McKernan; Aaron C. Smith and Emily T. Smith; five great grandchildren: Amelia; Alexander; Briella, Ember and Hudson. In addition to his parents, Marlo was predeceased by a sister, Raydell Adam and a brother, Alfred A. "Freddy" Adam.

A Memorial Service to Celebrate and Honor Bubby's life will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. from Saint John's United Church of Christ, 257 West Walnut Street, Kutztown, with The Reverend Scott M. Sanders, officiating.  Inurnment in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown.  Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. in the church.
