Robert “Jo Jo” Philliber was born in Lafayette, LA on October 20,1941. He was a graduate of Lafayette High School and went on to get an accounting degree from Texas A&I University. After graduating college, Jo Jo came back to Lafayette and took over running Philliber Directional Drilling from his ailing father. He was able to turn that into a successful and profitable business until his retirement.

Jo Jo was married to his wife Gladys for 55 years. Together they raised 5 children, had 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

He was an avid sports fan who loved gatherings of friends and family centered around sporting events. He loved to play golf and bowling, always with friends and family as well. He was very generous with his donations to many charities and with his time, which he would donate quite often to help those in need. But his favorite activity of all was just being with his family, and he was instrumental in bringing them all together for every holiday, birthday and any other excuse he could come up with.

He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Special thanks to the staff of Hospice of Acadiana for their compassionate care, and also to his caregiver Lena Ledet.
