The Life of Deborah Ann Fixter

Deborah, age 84, died after a brief illness In Miami, Florida on November 18, 2022.
 
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Ethel Fixter, and her brother, Robert C Fixter. And nephew Robert Douglas Fixter. Deborah is survived by her sister, Katherine Engle and her husband Walter; her nephew, Bryan Engle, her niece, Elizabeth Bosek, and her sister-in-law Marjorie Fixter Randolph; as well as her good friends, Sallie Walters and Ron Molina. Born in the Philadelphia suburbs, she graduated from Wilson College in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, and went on to earn an advanced degree from Columbia University. She co-authored a book "Women's Higher and Continuing Education." Always a scholar she taught Latin at the Northfield Mt Hermon School in Massachusetts at the beginning of her work years. Deborah proudly participated as a Fulbright Scholar in Rome Italy in the summer of 1964. After securing and working in a high position at the American College of Underwriters in Philadelphia for several years she moved to Miami, Florida, where she was employed at American Bankers Life Assurance and various law firms before joining the Miami-Dade County Public School system in Contract Services. Always learning along the way her certificates and accolades over the years were more than numerous.  She will be remembered for her relentless thoughtfulness, precise work, and her creativity. She showed her concern for others in quiet ways to all those she knew. She loved to travel and it showed in her devotion and passion for all things Greek.
 
Later there will be a private family Celebration of Life.  Those wishing to offer any contributions should direct them to Best Friend Animal Society, as she connected with this organization so passionately in her later years.
