The Life of Mrs. Ruth D. Regan

Ruth Davis Regan passed away on January 3rd, 2023 at the age of 99.  She was born in Denver, Colorado and was the only child of Charles Davis and Thelma Allen.  Ruth was raised in Pittsburgh, spent most of her adult life in York, and at 95 moved to Fleming Island, Florida.

Ruth graduated from Brentwood High School at the age of 16 and received a scholarship to Pinkerton Business School.  She was a child of the Depression and during WWII served as an Air Raid Warden for her community.  Prior to starting her family, she was employed by Regional Planning in Pittsburgh.  She retired as an executive secretary from The York Bank & Trust Company and worked as a part time receptionist for many years at Rest Haven Nursing Home.  She belonged to Trinity United Church of Christ in York and was a member of the Consistory.  While in Florida, she attended Grace Anglican Church.

Ruth had a curious nature and a broad range of interests including reading, solving crossword puzzles, international travel, history and art. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Colonial Dames.  Ruth enjoyed spending time with her family and will be remembered for her self-sacrificing love, quick wit, joyful spirit and thankful heart.  She was a model of contentment and joy, even during times of challenge.

She is survived by four children: Daniel (Jonnie), Michael (Deborah), Wendy Hutchinson (Joe), Nancy Stokes (Michael who predeceased Ruth.)  She also leaves behind six grandchildren and one great granddaughter: Christopher Regan, Jessica Regan Kaelin, Michelle Regan, Laura Hutchinson Summers, Kevin Stokes, Brian Stokes and Olivia Kaelin.

The family wishes to express their appreciation for the loving care given Ruth by Haven Hospice of Orange Park.  A Celebration of Life will be held on May 13, 2023 at Trinity United Church of Christ and Ruth will be interred at Prospect Hill Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, Grace Anglican Church or Haven Hospice.
