The Life of Betty Joyce Delahoussaye

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at a 1:00 PM Catholic Service in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette for Betty Joyce Andrus Delahoussaye, age, 89, who passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at her residence in Lafayette.

Reverend Brian Taylor, Pastor of St. Genevieve Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.

Interment will be held in Lafayette Memorial Park.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Dianne Gomez and her husband, Bart, Lawrence Delahoussaye and his wife, Cheryl, William “Bill” Delahoussaye and his wife, Melissa, Mark Delahoussaye and his wife, Harriet, and Linda Katschman; her eleven grandchildren, Lindsi Pizzolato (Caleb), William Delahoussaye, Jr., Mandy Hano (Jason), Lauren Carrigee (Koby), Jacob Delahoussaye (Aimee), Scott Ross Gomez (Stephanie), Sara Delahoussaye, Amy Estopinal (Eric), Miles Delahoussaye, Kara Katschman, and Laura "Scottie" Katschman; her ten great grandchildren, Kirby Hano, Tyler Hano, Molly Hano, Emeri Pizzolato, Jackson "Jack" Delahoussaye, Reid Delahoussaye, Ford Delahoussaye, Edward Carrigee, Eli Estopinal, and Ross Louis Gomez; her sister-in-law, Velma Andrus.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Elton Delahoussaye; one son, Scott Delahoussaye; her parents, Lezima Broussard Andrus and Lawrence Andrus; her siblings, Laura Osterman, Lawrence James Andrus, Benny Andrus, and Shirley Andrus Pellerin.

Betty was a native and life-long resident of Lafayette, LA. She was a parishioner of St. Genevieve Catholic Church and was devout in her faith. Betty and her husband Harry welcomed and raised six children whom they loved dearly. While her children were growing up, she was a homemaker and provided a safe and loving home. After her children were grown, she became a florist and worked for the Broussard's at Les Amis and other florists for over 30 years.

Betty enjoyed reading, crocheting, collecting figurines, cooking and visiting with her family. She had a funny sense of humor and a very caring heart. Betty especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved playing Skip Bo with them.

Pallbearers will be Jacob Delahoussaye, Ross Gomez, Will Delahoussaye, Jr., Miles Delahoussaye, Stephen Krieg, and Koby Carrigee.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Jason Hano, Caleb Pizzolato, and Eric Estopinal.

The family requests that visitation be observed on Saturday from 8:00 AM until time of services at 1:00 PM.

The family would like to thank her caretaker, Lisa Cormier, Rachel Landor, the nurses and staff of Acadian Hospice, especially, Gayle, Dana, Melissa, Laura, Amanda, and Lori, and also to Lauren and Koby Carrigee for taking such good care of our mother.
