The Life of Mrs. Catharine N. Peters

Catharine (Kitty) N. Peters, 93, died peacefully at home on Friday, April 20, 2018.

Catharine lived a wonderful and full life. She was always such an enormous presence in spite of her size. Her love of the arts was evidenced by the many years she performed in community theater productions at the York Little Theatre and the years she owned and operated The Gallery, her art gallery in York. She was an avid reader and served as a member of the Martin Honors Committee. She was a dedicated needle pointer, creating colorful abstract designs for her scrims. She loved to travel and enjoyed the years she lived in Dublin, Ireland and the time she spent in Greece.

Catharine had an inquiring mind and was eager to get involved with issues and organizations. She served as Campaign Manager for Betty Marshall, during her successful bid for Mayor of York in 1977. She was a member of the Junior League and the York Garden Club.

She is survived by her husband, Robert S. Bowers; daughters, Kate Morton-Peters (Stan Oleson) and Liza Morton-Peters; and grandchildren, Madeline M. Oleson, Peter G. Oleson, Nicholas H. Albright (deceased) (Lindsey), Christopher A. Albright; and great-grandchildren, Makenna, Kieran and Jaron Albright. Her brother, R. Alfred Neiman predeceased her.

A celebration of her life will be held sometime in the future.

In her memory, donations can be made to the York YWCA endowment fund at YWCA.org or to the Martin Library, York, PA at yorklibraries.org. Online obituary and condolences available at monahanfuneralhome.com.
