The Life of Ronald David Pratte

Ronald "David" Pratte, 79, of Erie, passed of natural causes on Friday, December 23, 2022, at Millcreek Community Hospital. He was born in San Diego, CA on June 20, 1943, a son of the late Firman Pratte and Bernice Norris Boggs.

David attended Escondido School District before moving to New York City, Erie, Santa Cruz, and settling in Erie, PA.

David was a well-known and respected part of our local artist scenes in Erie and Meadville. A beatnik hippie with a love for underground comics, the world of lowbrow art, and film noirs, he loved spending time with his two children and four grandchildren. David was an Artist at Media Play until his retirement and a member of the Northwest Pennsylvania Artist Association. He enjoyed throwing his Annual Artist Labor Day Party as a chance to get together with friends and fellow artists to share and discuss their craft.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a special grandmother, Alta Pratte, who lived to be 101.

He is survived by his life partner, Virginia Monroe of Erie; his children, Oden (Donna) and Shaina Pratte, both of Phoenixville, Pa, his grandchildren, Ben, twins Sophia and Ryan, and Mars Pratte, all of Phoenixville, Pa, his brothers, Douglas, Rodney (Linda), and Wesley (Lisa) Pratte, all of Escondido, California; his sisters, Sharon (Gary) Connelly of Austin, TX and Diana (Jerry) Francis of Apple Valley, California; and his beloved cats, Sheldon and Oreo.

Friends and family are welcomed to gather at the Russell C. Schmidt and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, PA 16504 for Remembrance on Wednesday, December 28 from 10 AM until the Time of Sharing and Stories at 11 AM.

Burial was private and at the convenience of the family.
