The Life of DELIA ARVILA FULTON DENNIS

Delia ”Dee” Arvila Dennis died peacefully on November 13, 2022 in Rockford, Illinois surrounded by family.

Dee was born December 19, 1927 in Clarinda, Iowa. The daughter of Vernon R. and Rosa J. Fulton. Dee was a 1945 graduate from East High School in Des Moines, Iowa. She was married to Barney Dennis for 64 years and had 4 children: Greg, Chris, Randy and Cindy. She and her husband spent most of their lives in Urbandale. Dee worked many years as an administrative assistant at ABC (Associated Builders and Contractors). However, her real passion was working as an Avon Representative of which she was a highly successful and decorated representative for more than 40 years.

Dee was a charter member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and a long-time church organist. She continued to play the organ well into her 90’s for the enjoyment of fellow residents at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center in Rockford.

Her interests included her family, ABWA (American Business Women’s Association), Toastmasters, and many volunteer endeavors. She donated time to Blank Park Zoo, Urbandale youth programs, was an avid Boy/Girl Scouts leader and was involved with the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many lucky people who came to know her kindness and warmth.

She is survived by her sons Greg (Janie); Chris; daughter Cindy (Chip) as well as 8 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Otto “Barney” Dennis and youngest son Randy (Becky) Dennis.

Funeral services will be held at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Urbandale, Iowa on Saturday, November 19. Visitation at 9AM, service at 10AM. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens, Des Moines, Iowa.
