The Life of Mrs. Ronny Kay Platts

Ronny Kay Platts (Stevens), born on May 29,1953, passed away in her sleep at her summer home in Yuma, AZ on September 12, 2022, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 69. Ronny fought until the very end, wanting to reach the date of September 4th, maybe knowing she could say that she beat George – her beloved late husband – yet again. Ronny was competitive and stubborn and had such a lively sense of humor. She loved to sing, dance, watch murder mysteries, and listen to books on tape, but her most favorite activity was gathering around a bonfire with her friends. Ronny also enjoyed playing billiards and board games with anyone who would play, so long as she was the scorekeeper.

Ronny spent summers at the beach in Ocean City, MD enjoying the sand and waves. She would get to the beach early and stake out her spot, return to condo for breakfast and then back to beach again. When she was tired of the sand, she would go to the roof top pool to cool off. In the evenings, she would often be found bar hopping with her friends. She enjoyed canoeing on the river with George and attending festivals at Dills Tavern. Ronny also loved playing the slot machines at the local casinos.

Ronny worked at Harley Davidson for many years where she met, and eventually married, her husband George. They were married for over 30 years.

Ronny was preceded in death by her husband George E Platts III, her parents, and her eldest brother Richard Stevens. She is survived by her brother Charles A Stevens and his wife Vickie, her sister Deb Starner and her spouse Jim as well as numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. Ronny was so well loved by all.

Friends and family are invited for a short service and burial at 2:00 PM on October 20th at Prospect Hill Cemetery in York PA. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow the graveside service at The Roosevelt Tavern at 3:00 PM.
