The Life of Mr. Walter Andrew Flynn, Jr.

Walter Andrew Flynn, Jr., 75, of Fairfield, died on January 11, 2019. Mr. Flynn is survived by his wife of 42 years Kathleen Morris Flynn; his daughters, Meghan Seekamp and her husband Lt. Col. Karl Seekamp (USAF) of Destin, FL, Erin Flynn of Greenwich, and Caitlin Flynn of Fairfield; and his grandchildren, Luke and Kerry Seekamp.
Mr. Flynn was born on August 2, 1943 to Irene and Walter Flynn of Bridgeport, CT. He graduated from Notre Dame Catholic High School in 1961. He received his BS from Boston College in 1965, J.D. from Georgetown University Law School in 1968, and LL.M. from New York University Law School in 1971.
Mr. Flynn served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Finance Corp in Vietnam from 1968-1970. He was awarded a Bronze Star for meritorious achievement in ground operations against hostile forces.
Mr. Flynn practiced law at Goldstein & Peck, P.C. in Bridgeport for over 50 years. He was admitted to practice law in Connecticut, the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, the U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Mr. Flynn was a member of the Greater Bridgeport Bar Association for over 50 years. He served as the 109th President from 1988-1989. Mr. Flynn also served as Town Attorney for the Town of Weston from 1984-1991 and assistant Town Attorney for the Town of Westport and Town of Newtown.
Mr. Flynn served on the Board of Finance for the Town of Fairfield from 1999-2008 and on the Police Commission for the Town of Fairfield from 2010 until his passing.
An avid golfer, he was involved in the Connecticut Irish Open, a benefit for the Fr. John M. Conlisk Irish Scholarship. He was also a longtime member of the selection committee for the St. Patrick's Scholarship, a four-year award for students with high academic achievement and financial need. He was a member and past commander of the Penfield Power Squadron. He was a longtime member of the Patterson Club and the Gaelic-American Club.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 49 Turkey Hill Road North, Westport on Tuesday, January 15th at 11 a.m., followed by full military honors.
