The Life of Eleanor F Kane

Age 77, of Morningside, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2022.

Eleanor was born on September 6, 1944 in Pittsburgh, the daughter of John and Eleanor Kane. Growing up she lived in Pittsburgh, Houston and Cleveland, returning to Pittsburgh for the bulk of her life. After graduate training at the University of Pittsburgh she had a long career as a psychotherapist in private practice, at St. Francis Hospital, and with the mental health agencies Allegheny East and Mercy Behavioral Health. In recent years Eleanor taught psychology as an adjunct professor at Point Park University.

She is survived by two sisters, Ann Kane Slevinsky (Eugene) of Pittsburgh and Patrice Kane of Bronxville, NY; a brother, Michael Kane of Ypsilanti, MI. Also survived by nieces Sarah Slevinsky, Meghan Kane Sims (Phil) and two nephews, John Herbert Kane and Samuel Michael Kane, as well as two grand nieces, Avery and Aniston Sims. She was the long-time friend and companion to John Peters, of Pittsburgh and godmother to Cheyenne Susan Peters and Chase Johnathan Hartung of Washington County, PA. She was the dear honorary step-mother to Genevieve Marie Peters (Robert Hartung) and step-grandmother to Channing Marie Hartung and step-great grandmother to Nico Robert Peters and Jaelynn Eleanor Ellis Glendenning.
