The Life of Mr. George A. Isamoyer Jr.

George A. Isamoyer, Jr., 85, of Mertztown, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 in his residence. He was the loving husband of Irene R. "Renie" (Siegfried) Isamoyer, whom he married on April 19, 1958.

 

Born in Mertztown, George was a son of the late George U., Sr., and Irene (Guldin) Isamoyer. He was a member of Zion's Union Church of Maxatawny. George worked as a Manager at the former Saucony Shoe Company at their Kutztown and Macungie factories. Following the closure of Saucony Shoe, George was employed by East Penn Manufacturing Co., Inc., Lyons, for 20 years, working as the Manager of the Laundry Department.

 

When George and Irene were married, they raised coonhounds for many years, competing in The Beaver Creek Field Trials for many years. After retirement, George took up golfing, and enjoyed his time going for breakfast followed by a fun game of golf with his friends. George and Irene also enjoyed going to area yard sales when they would purchase items and resell them for a profit, however they would donate their earnings to the church.

 

In addition to his wife of 63 years, Irene, George is survived by a son, Clay L. Isamoyer, Mertztown; four grandchildren, Justin Isamoyer, Travis Isamoyer, Conner Isamoyer and Ciera Isamoyer; two great-grandchildren, Jayce and Kylo; and a brother, Edwin Isamoyer of Fleetwood.

 

Along with his parents, George was predeceased by a son, Larry G. Isamoyer on December 21, 2014; brothers, Herbert and Harold Isamoyer; and sisters, Joyce Neimeyer, Jean Althouse, Anna Eisenhard and Betty Oswald.

 

A graveside service to celebrate George's life and burial will be held on Monday, July 26, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Zion Maxatawny Union Cemetery, 329 Church Road (Along US-Rt.222), Kutztown, PA, with The Reverend Jeffrey J. Butz officiating. Please dress casual as per the family's request.

 

The family requests contributions be made in George's memory to Zion's Union Church, 329 Church Road, Kutztown, PA 19530.
