The Life of Donald Delp

Donald Delp, 85, formerly of Mertztown, passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2021 in Keystone Villa, Blandon. He was the longtime companion of Kathleen S. (Rhode) Herman.


Born in Temple, Donald was a son of the late Calvin S. Delp, Sr., and Anna (Gerhart) Delp. He was the owner and operator of the former Delp's Mushroom Company in Temple from 1966 until 1979. Most recently, Donald was employed by East Penn Manufacturing Co., Inc., as a crane operator and laborer from 1981 until his retirement in 2001.


In addition to his companion Kathleen, Donald is survived by his two granddaughters, Kelly Neimeyer and Kim Kilgus, sisters, Anna Mae Reinhart and Betty Delp; brother, Gordon Delp, and daughter, Edna Jamison.


Along with his parents, Donald was predeceased by Kathleen's son, Blake L. Herman; his siblings, Calvin S. Delp Jr., John Delp, Ruth Rothermel, June Baker, Grace Geraci and Ronald Delp.


Graveside services for Donald will be held at the convenience of the family in Longswamp Union Cemetery, Mertztown.


The family requests contributions be made in Donald's memory to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 117, Mertztown, PA 19539.
