The Life of James E. Hawks

James E. Hawks, 77 of Middlefield Turnpike, Woodbury, formerly of Ansonia, died February 23, 1968 at Waterbury Hospital after a short illness. He was the husband of the late Gertrude Hopps Hawks and had resided in Woodbury for 10 years. He had lived in Ansonia for 50 years. He was born January 29, 1891 in Cold Spring, NY, son of the late Henry & Lydia Terry Hawks. He worked at the Anaconda American Brass Co. Ansonia for 38 years and until moving to Woodbury, also worked at the Laurel Heights Hospital Shelton. He was a member of Court John B. Gardner, Ancient Order of Foresters, & the Ansonia Lodge of Elks. Surviving are a son Francis E. Hawks of Derby; 3 daughters Mrs. Darlene Curtiss of Woodbury, Mrs. Edith Wakelee of Ansonia and Mrs. June Greninger of Milford; 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services held at Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home Seymour. The Rev. M. Webb Wright pastor of North Congregational Church Woodbury officiated. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery Ansonia
