The Life of Norman M. Jr. Moore

NORMAN M, JR. OF NEWTOWN SQUARE, DIED ON DECEMBER 24, 2019 AT THE AGE OF 93.

He is survived by his daughter Carole (William ) Keating, granddaughter Lauren (Matt) Spear, and great-grandchildren Theo and Emerson Spear. He was the loving husband of the late Frances Russell Moore, and the father of the late David Moore.

He was a lifelong resident of Delaware County, graduating from Upper Darby High School in 1944, and residing in Newtown Square since 1955. His military service was stateside in the Army Air Force during World War II.

He was employed by Verizon Communications for thirty eight years, retiring as a staff manager in 1984.

His hobbies including genealogy and antique automobile restoration, He was a member of the Historical Car Club of PA, Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA), Upper Darby Historical Society, Newtown Township Historical Preservation Society, Highland Park Fire Company and the Delaware County Fireman's Association.

He was also a long time volunteer for Meals-On-Wheels and served as chairman of the Marple Newtown unit.
Mr. Moore restored five antique automobiles and a motorcycle. Three of those vehicles received senior awards in national AACA judging.

He had identified his early ancestors as Quakers who came to America in the 1680's, including James Moore who received a land grant from Willaim Penn in 1692 in what is now Radnor Township, and John Marshall who built mills along Cobbs Creek and Naylors Run in what is now Upper Darby.
