The Life of Athanasios "Thomas" Kouroutzidis

Athanasios (Tom) Kouroutzidis was born May 19, 1931 in Alexandroupolis, Greece, he passed away suddenly on the morning of October 21, 2019. He was the son of the late Alexandros and Mersina Kouroutzidis and was a loving brother to his deceased sister Katina Sosangelis.

He is survived by his loving wife, Fay (Fofo), his 2 beautiful daughters, Mersina and his son in law Ed Carr and his daughter Paula and his son in law John Costalas; his adoring grandchildren CJ and Anthony Costalas, and Alexi and Jason Carr.

Tom moved to Piraeus with his family at age of 10 during the World War II. He had to work for the Germans at a young age to help support his family. At age 16 Tom joined the merchant marine and travelled the world continuing to help his family. At age 20 his relatives the Sosangelis family brought Tom and his family to the Philadelphia area.

Tom enjoyed photography and the simple things in life. He adored his loving wife of 58 years and enjoyed spending time with his daughters and their families. He loved good food, good jokes, dancing and travelling. Tom will be greatly missed by all.

Family and friends are welcome to attend his viewing from 10 to 11am Thursday at St. Luke Greek Orthodox Church, 35 N. Malin Rd, Broomall, Pa 19008. His funeral will follow at 11am.

Interment will be at Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill, PA.. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the church.
