The Life of Gary W. Geiger

Gary Wayne Geiger, 71, of Fleetwood, passed away suddenly on Sunday, December 9, 2018 in Penn State Health - St. Joseph Medical Center, Bern Township. He was the loving husband of Jessica A. (Heater) Geiger. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on December 21. Born in Allentown, Gary was a son of Marjorie P. (Rauenzahn) Geiger, a resident of The Lutheran Home at Topton, and the late Wayne A. Geiger. He was a 1964 graduate of Brandywine Heights High School, Topton, and honorably and faithfully served his country in The United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Azores, Portugal, and served with the National Security Group and had crypto clearance. He also attended a communications school during his time in the Navy.

Gary was employed as a Sr. Computer Operator for 35 years, first by Western Electric, then AT&T, then Lucent Technologies and finally, Agere Systems, retiring in 2000. He was a loyal member of the Berks County Kennel Club, serving as President, Show Chair and Show Secretary, all while exhibiting his precious Maltese.  Gary and Jessica produced many AKC Champions under their Kennel name, Jes-Gar Maltese. Gary was also an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed going to play BINGO.

In addition to his wife of 49 years, Jessica, and mother, Marjorie, Gary is survived by his three sisters, Dawn C. (Geiger), wife of Thomas LaVerdure, Fleetwood, Rev. Mary Ann (Geiger), wife of Alton Hamm, Macungie, and Robin L. (Geiger) Beach, Topton; brother-in-law, Jon, husband of Charlotte Heater, Mertztown; 15 nieces and nephews; 13 great nieces and nephews; and several uncles.

Services with military honors, will be private at the convenience of the family.
