The Life of Eleanor Ann Yount
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Grace Presbyterian Church for Eleanor Ann Mitchell Yount, 80, who passed away on September 29, 2018 at The Carpenter House.
Reverend Pat Wadsworth, Pastor of Grace Presbyterian will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Yount was a graduate of Lafayette High and LSU, where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. Her journalism career began in college, writing for The Daily Reveille. Following graduation, she reported for The Morning Advocate and later The Daily Advertiser. She started a second career in retail when she and her husband, Ray, opened Greek Expressions. Together, they were avid supporters of the Greek community at ULL and universities across Louisiana. She was also a huge fan of LSU baseball and football, rarely missing a game. She answered to many names: Eleanor, Ann, Mitch, Jewel, and Mama. But, her favorite name was Grandmama.
Mrs. Yount, a resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Mark Mitchell and the former Eleanor Morgan.
She is survived by her children, Dr. Nelson Yount and wife, Roxanne, Marcia Davis and husband, Steve, and Shari Saloom and husband, Gregory; her grandchildren, Elyse Frederick (Andre), Aimee Yount, Alex Yount (Camille), Ethan Yount, Margaret Davis, Mitchell Davis, Katherine Saloom and Jordan Saloom; her great grandchildren, Elle Frederick and Oliver Frederick; and her brother, Dr. Thomas Mitchell and wife, Dottie.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 51 years, Ray Yount.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Friday, October 5, 2018 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM. Visiting hours will continue on Saturday from 10:00AM until the time of service.
Pallbearers will be Alex Yount, Ethan Yount, Mitchell Davis, Steve Davis, Gregory Saloom and Ethan Saloom.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Acadiana Animal Aid, www.AcadianaAnimalAid.org.
