The Life of Frances M Matlock

Frances M. "Franny" Matlock, 93, of Schoentown, passed away Friday.

Born in Schoentown, Jan. 5, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Juozas and Viola Manalis Mickalauskas McCloskey.

Frances worked as a seamstress for local garment factories. She was a member of the former St. Casimir Roman Catholic Church, Saint Clair, and St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Saint Clair. Frances was an avid reader.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Matlock, on July 14, 1989; a son, Baby Joseph Matlock, Dec. 4, 1971; a sister, Lillian Phillips, Jan. 18, 2005; a niece, Marchia Phillips, Feb. 26, 2017.

Frances is survived by a daughter, Marisa Underwood, Minersville; a son, Galen Joseph Dura, Connecticut; grandchildren, Brianne, Brandon and his wife, Theresa, and Lindsey; a sister, Marcellene Majeskie, Florida; nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church in Saint Clair with Monsignor William F. Glosser officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing from 10 to 11: 30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church. Interment will be held in Schuylkill Memorial Park Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Memory of Frances to your favorite local library. Robert A.
