The Life of L J John Landry

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at a 10:00 AM Catholic Service in Martin & Castille's La Fleur de Lis Chapel in Lafayette for L.J. John Landry, 87, who died on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at his residence in Lafayette.

Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park.

Reverend Gary Schexnayder will conduct the funeral services.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 62 years, Joan R. Sellers Landry; one daughter, Dena Joan Landry; one sister, Winnie Trahan; and one brother, Donald Landry.

He was preceded in death by two sons, James Todd Landry and John Ross Landry; his parents, Lorfies and Blanche Broussard Landry; and two sisters, Yvonne Viator and Una Stout.

L.J. John Landry was a native of Erath, Louisiana and resident of Lafayette for most of his life. He was a veteran of military service and proudly served his country as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was employed at Jack's Cookie Company where he was known as the "Cookieman". Later, he worked for Langlinais Bakery and worked until the age of 80. Mr. Landry was happiest being outdoors working in his yard and gardening. He was know for enjoying his pipe on the back patio with his beloved dogs. He was also a great dancer, loved cajun music. Mr. Landry will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Pallbearers will be Carlos Stout, Eugene Poirrier and Dena Joan Landry.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's SOUTHSIDE location on Monday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 AM until time of service.
