The Life of Simon Toback


Simon Toback , 95, of Orwigsburg, passed away Wednesday, May 30th at Seton Manor. Simon was born in New Philadelphia on October 7, 1922, a son of the late Mary (Lapinski) and Anthony Toback. He was the widower of Phyllis (Seltzer ) Toback . He was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church Schuylkill Haven. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II and received the Victory, Good Conduct, and American Theatre Service Medals & EAME Theatre Service Medal with three bronze Stars. He worked as a Laborer at Hamburg Battery Works for 37 years. He was a member of the Second Mountain Rod and Gun Club and the American Legion Post #369 Orwigsburg . Simon is survived by three daughters, Gerri, widow of Jay Rae of Orwigsburg, Marie, wife of Ronald Blew , of New Ringgold, Ann, wife of Stephen Markowicz , of New Ringgold, a stepdaughter, Susan Zierd of Rome, GA. Granddaughters Shannon Yeakel , Nicole Stein, Michele Garv, Step Grandchildren Jessica Weiderhold & Adam Zierd. Six great grandchildren Logan, Bethany, Erik, Sarah, Natalie, and Emilia. Predeceased by brothers Adam , Anthony Mitchell, Charlie, and Henry and two sisters, Agnes Greek, and Genevieve Manicaro. A religious service will be held Tuesday, June 5 at Hamilton-Breiner Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 10:30 AM, Msgr. Edward Zemanik officiating. Friends and family are invited to visit from 9 AM until time of service. Interment will follow at Schuylkill Memorial Park.
