The Life of ROBERT KEITH HILDEBRAND
Robert K. Hildebrand, 90, died Thursday, May 24, 2018 at VA Medical Center in Des Moines. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am, Monday, May 28th at St. Joseph Catholic Church where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will be 10 am, Tuesday, May 29th at Highland Memory Gardens.
Bob was born June 13, 1927 in Charles City to Elbert Leo and Mary (Bielefeld) Hildebrand. He served in the US Navy during WWII and attended University of Northern Iowa. Bob worked as an engineer for the city of Charles City, and then for Oliver Tractor Plant before moving to Des Moines and then Lincoln, NE, to work for Continental Western as an Insurance Inspector.
On October 8, 1955 Bob married Mary Louise Hennagir and they were blessed with 50 years of marriage, four daughters, 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Bob was known for his talent as a woodworker. He designed and crafted many family heirlooms, which will be treasured for generations.
Survivors include his daughters: Mary “Janie” (Tom) Kilbride of Rock Island, IL, Carol (Mark) Hollingsworth of Des Moines, Nancy Main of Des Moines, Joni (Hal) Holmquist of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren: Kate Kilbride, Colleen (Nick Hromalik) Kilbride, Clare Kilbride, Jennifer (David) Danielson, Daniel (Susan) Hollingsworth, Matthew Hollingsworth, Jeremy (Trish) Main, Michelle (Mike Parcel) Frost, Robbie (Danielle) Main, Maria (Jon) Nelson, Nila (Nate) Henderson, Anna Holmquist; great grandchildren: Isabel, Eleanor, David, Abigail, Andrew, Aaron, Aiden, Brookelyn, Luke, Grace, Elsie, Sarah, Rebekah, Caleb and Samuel; siblings: Merlyn, Lyle, Les, and Beth Ann. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou; brothers, Dean and Cliff; and his son in law, Wain.
