Obituary for Cecelia Mae Reed (Sharer)
Cecelia Mae Reed (nee Sharer) age 84, of Mantua Twp., NJ passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018. Born in Centre County, PA to the late George Rufus Sharer and Roxanna (nee McClintic), she had been a resident of Gloucester County since 1951. In her youth she played piano for the Emmanuel Church at Tusseyville, PA. Cecelia was a former member of Holy Nativity Lutheran Church in Wenonah, and sang in their choir. She was also a member of the Gloucester County College Choir and the Junior Women's Club. In her spare time she enjoyed playing the piano, ceramics, gardening and travelling with the local Airstream Club. She was an avid football fan, particularly for Penn State, and loved animals, especially cats. Cecelia served her community by working the Mantua Twp. School Board Elections, and volunteered in the Centre City Elementary School Library.
She is survived by her husband, Oliver L. Reed, her daughter, Cindy Reed of Mantua, her son, Bob Reed & his wife Sue of Moon Twp., PA, her sister June Ishler & her husband Ronnie, cousins Barbara Yingling & Larry Sharer.
Family and Friends may visit from 3:30 pm to 5 pm on Tuesday, January 16th, at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Mantua, NJ where funeral services will be held at 5 pm on Tuesday. A graveside service will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, January 17th at Schuylkill Memorial Park in Schuylkill Haven, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Alzheimer's Association, Delaware Valley Chapter, 399 Market St., Suite Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106 or the animal shelter of your choice.
