The Life of Charles H Daubert

Charles H. Daubert, 83, of Pottsville, passed away Wednesday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Allentown. 

He was born Oct. 26, 1934, in Pottsville. 

He was a 1952 graduate of Pottsville High School and a veteran of the Army. Prior to retirement, Charles was employed by M.A. Hospador Steel Erectors Inc., Saint Clair, for 30 years before serving 13 years as deputy controller of Schuylkill County. 

Charles was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville. He was a charter member of the Pottsville Boys' Basketball League, where he served 64 years as a coach, league secretary and, most recently, as the instructional league coach. He was inducted as a member of both the Allen-Rogowicz Chapter of the PA Sports Hall of Fame and the Pottsville Area School District Sports Hall of Fame.

Charles served as a board member of the Salvation Army and Schuylkill County Retirees. He was a life member of American Hose Fire Company and a former member of the Pottsville Recreation Commission Board of Directors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Atwood R. and Margaret Long Daubert; a brother, Wellington Daubert. 

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy Mortimer Daubert; children, Todd Daubert, Kim Rismiller and her husband, Eric, and Jay Daubert and his wife, Jennifer, all of Pottsville; two sisters, Mary Jane Ziegler, Lansdale, and Lucinda Jones, Severn, Md.; a brother, Dale Daubert, Pottsville; grandchildren, Morgan and Julia Rismiller, Ty, Hayden, and Jackson Daubert; nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday from Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville, with the Rev. Harold L. Hand Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Third and Arch streets., Pottsville. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Charles H. Daubert Memorial/Scholarship Fund for the youth of Pottsville, c/o CACL Federal Credit Union, 1800 W. Market St., Pottsville, PA 17901, or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of Central PA, 3009 Market St., Camp Hill, PA 17011 (note Charles H. Daubert on memo line). Interment with military honors will be at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. Arrangements are by James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville.
