The Life of Roy E. Young Jr.

Roy E. Young, Jr., 85, of Drexel Hill, PA, died October 3, 2017 at Bryn Mawr Hospital.

Born and raised in Drexel Hill, he was a graduate of Upper Darby High School, class of 1949. After graduation, Roy enlisted in the U. S. Air Force and served in the Korean War. Upon completing his military service he joined his father at the John Hancock Insurance Co., where he worked for 30 years, retiring in 1987.

Roy was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan and was an early enthusiast of the 24 hour news cycle, always watching CNN. After retirement he volunteered at the Adult Day Care Center in Barclay Square, which was run by his wife, Amelia Young, who died in 2011.

Survivors: include his daughters, Beth Sliben (the late James Jr), Deborah (Robert Nenna) Calladonato, Cynthia (James Dodaro) Young, Pamela (Darren) Glover, 8 Grandchildren, 4 Great-Grandchildren, and his brother, Bruce Young.

Service: Funeral Service will be 1pm Sat October 7, 2017, at the Toppitzer Funeral Home at Arlington 2900 State Rd., Drexel Hill 19026

Visitation: 12:30 Saturday, October 7, 2017.

 Interment: Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill, PA.

Contributions: in his memory to Alzheimer's research, would be preferred
