The Life of Ella Mae Gautreau

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at 10:00 AM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Ella Mae Gautreau , 92, who passed away on Friday, September 29, 2017, at Brookdale Senior Living in Lake Charles.

Entombment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Pastor Steve Cox of Resurrection Life Church in Moss Bluff, La., will conduct the funeral services.

Survivors include her daughter, Jo Ann Gautreau Person and husband Pat; her sons, Wayne Gautreau and wife Jane, Glen Gautreau and wife Sandy, James Gautreau and wife Theresa, and Gary Gautreau and wife Wendy; her 12 grandchildren, Michael, Tanya, Jamie, Heidi-Jo, Stacey and Rowdy, Dawn, Shannon, Randy, Brandi, Tricia and Tasha; 19 great grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cal Gautreau; her parents, Ulysse and Clara Smith; 2 sisters, Helen Sylvester and Ena Deshotel; and 2 brothers, Dallas Smith and Aldes Smith.

A native of Ville Platte and a Lafayette resident most of her life, Ella Mae and her late husband Cal were the founders of Cal''s Western Store in Lafayette. She will be remembered as a generous, loving mother and grandmother.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s DOWNTOWN location on Monday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday from 8:00 AM until time of service.

Memorial contributions can be made in Ella Mae Gautreau''s name to the Alzheimer''s Association, Louisiana Chapter, www.alz.org/louisiana .

A heartfelt appreciation is extended by the Gautreau family to the staff of Brookdale Senior Living and Heart of Hospice of Lake Charles for the compassionate care given to Ella Mae in her time of need.
