Survivors include her son, Paul Davis Jr. and his wife Kim; daughter, Sandra Dunnington and her husband Scott; four grandchildren, Meagan Resendez, Erin Davis, and Caitlin and Steven Dunnington; and sisters, Myrtle Egbert, Winnie Jones and Barbara Jean Kelly. She also leaves behind special friends Nita Bice and Margaret Clay; loving neighbors, Iris Castille and Pat and Alice Sheffield; and close family friends, Phil and Babette Brown.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Paul L. Davis Sr.; daughter, Pamela; and numerous siblings, including her beloved twin sister, Patsy Mullen Fisher.

Peggy was born in Reno, Nevada, the 13th child born to James and Mabel Mullen. She was the younger twin by minutes, a fact Patsy relished over their lifetimes. Peggy met Paul in Reno while he was stationed at Stead Air Base. After marrying in 1954 they moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where Paul completed his degree in geology at LSU while Peggy worked for the phone company. They moved to Lafayette in 1959, where they resided until Paul’s death in 2015. She then moved to Acworth, Georgia to be near her daughter, where she resided until her death.

Peggy’s life revolved around her family and her church. A longtime member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Peggy taught second grade Sunday School alongside Margaret Clay for many years. She was also a member of the choir, taught Vacation Bible School, and helped start Music Day Camp at Emmanuel, which she continued to do at Community Baptist Church, where she was a member until her passing. Peggy worked alongside Nita Bice at Mother’s Day Out at Emmanuel for many years. Peggy took over as Director when Nita stepped down. Peggy loved children. She was continually captivated by the children that would perform at Dogwood Forrest, the assisted living home where she resided in Georgia. She leaves behind many friends at Dogwood who loved her for her sense of humor, stylish dress, and joyous spirit.

Peggy was a full-time mother when her kids were young. She spent many afternoons helping with Cub Scouts, driving back and forth to dance lessons, and attending numerous concerts, recitals, football games, and of course, church events. Peggy often accompanied Paul on his many business trips to Houston, GCAGS trips, and many LAGCOE events in Lafayette and Odessa. Peggy’s abiding love of children continued throughout her life. She loved music, was always quick with a smile, and was a genuinely happy person who enjoyed the little things in life. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family would like to thank Dogwood Forest Assisted Living for their loving care over the past two years as well as the staff at Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain hospice for the care and compassion provided to Peggy and her family.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Davis'' honor can be made to Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain, 475 Dickson Ave NW, Marietta, GA 30066.
