The Life of Alicia Roy

Alicia (Alice) Dolores Roy passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 16, 2024. She was the widow of Edward Roy. Alicia was born in New York City on July 25, 1928 where she resided until the age of 13. She then moved with her mother to Bridgeport, CT and attended Harding High School. After high school she returned to New York where she worked for a short time before returning back to Bridgeport.

 

While in Bridgeport, and getting a job at General Electric Company, a blind date was arranged where she met her future husband Edward Roy. They were married August 8,1949 which lasted more than sixty-eight years. During their early years of their marriage, they lived in Key West, FL and Tuscaloosa, AL. They returned after Edward’s graduation from the University of Alabama.

 

Alicia’s main focus in life was her family. While raising them she worked at Bodine Hall at the University of Bridgeport for many years. Alicia loved cooking and entertaining for family and friends. She was a life long active member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church. She also enjoyed reading, walking to Paradise Green in Stratford, and watching old movies on TCM.

 

Alicia (Alice) loved traveling with her husband Ed, family and friends, whether on a bus trip, flying or a cruise. On one cruise, Alicia and Ed became good friends with Jackie and John Holland of England. Alicia’s favorite trip was to Italy where she visited the small village of Longobardi in the Calabria region where her mother was born.

 

Her memory will be cherished by her loving family. She is survived by four beloved children, Colleen Fall of Nashua, NH, Roderick Roy and wife Joanne of Milford, Mark Roy of Milford and Gary Roy and wife Paula of Stratford,; grandchildren, Margaret Peta and husband Frank of Hudson, NH, Christopher Fall and wife Lisa, of Wenham, MA, Curt Fall of Netherlands, Alicia Fries and husband Ryan of Houston, TX, Ashley Granata and husband Mark of Norwalk, Matthew Roy of Las Vegas, NV; seven great-grandchildren; and her devoted brother, Michael Garrett. She was predeceased by a brother, John Garrett.

 

Please join us to celebrate Alicia’s life on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 10 a.m.at St. Mark's Catholic Church, 500 Wigwam Drive, Stratford,. Burial to follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield. There will be no calling hours. Please visit www.pisteyfuneralhome.com to express condolences.
