The Life of Martino A. Falcone

Martino "Marty" Falcone, 89, long time resident of Drexel Hill, died Aug 25, 2017 at Penn Presbyterian Hospital.

Born and raised in South Philadelphia, Marty knew he wanted to be a butcher from a very young age.  He began working for the butcher down the street from his home in South Philadelphia when he was seven years old.  He eventually purchased the business and operated Marty’s Meats until his retirement in 2002. He then set up a mini butcher shop in his basement where he filled orders for his family and a few special customers – completing one just days before his death. Marty was a Korean War era veteran of the U. S. Army.

To Marty family came first, over the past 2 ½ years, he and Diane spent a great amount of time ensuring the care of his sister, Theresa, who passed away just six weeks ago.

A member of St Andrew the Apostle Parish, Marty enjoyed crossword puzzles.

Marty was a devoted husband to Rita, his beloved wife of 63 years – he adored her.  He was a loving father and father-in-law to Marianne and Ray, Diane and Dave, and Joey and Lisa.  His grandchildren – Lisa and John, Jessie, Katie, Dave Jr, Jonny, Alexis, and Rachel – were so special to him. His great grandchildren – Zachary and Sydney, Tessa, Rita, Martino, and Stella – were his pride and joy. He was the brother of Carmela Falcone, Antoinette Kaufman (John), the late Michael Falcone and Theresa Falcone.

Marty was central to all family dinners – giving orders, cooking pasta, carving roasts, and fixing the salad.  He enjoyed helping his children with projects around their homes – building a deck, repairing a window or a chair, supervising a contractor, etc.

He was looking forward to the upcoming weddings of his grandchildren – David to Theresa and Rachel to John.  He will be there in spirit for sure.

Marty was a loving, charming, and kind person.  He will be sorely missed!

Visitation will be 9:30-10:15 Wednesday, August 30th in the Church of St Andrew the Apostle, School Lane & Foss Ave., Drexel Hill, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:30AM.

Burial is at Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill, PA.
