The Life of MARGARET GENE HOPKINS

Margaret “Peg” Hopkins passed away peacefully on Friday, July 28, 2017 at The Bridges of Ankeny in Ankeny, IA. Visitation will be held at Iles Grandview Park Chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 31. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 1 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Urbandale with burial services to follow at Highland Memory Gardens.

Peg was born April 15, 1949 in Des Moines, IA to Margaret (Hummel) Reed and Eugene Anderson. She was raised by Margaret and Tom Reed in Des Moines. Peg was a 1967 high school graduate of St. Joseph Academy and enjoyed being a member of the Stepperette drill team. She married Robert Talley and became the mother to three children, Amy Hood, Bob Talley and Kelly Pallwitz. She devoted a majority of her life to raising her children. Peg later attended nursing school at Clarkson College in Omaha, NE where she received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Peg dedicated her career to advocating and caring for the elderly as a BSN. She loved animals, spending time with her family, the outdoors and being active.

Peg is survived by her sister, Patricia “Jodi” Hart; brother, James “Jim” Anderson; daughter, Amy Hood, husband Bill, their two children, Kelsie (Scott) Stajcar, Ryan (Megan) Hood and great-granddaughter, Olivia Stajcar; son, Bob Talley, wife Kim, their two sons, Max and Logan Talley; daughter, Kelly Pallwitz and her two sons, Tyler and Caden Pallwitz.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Thomas “Tom” Reed and James “Jimmy” Reed; and son-in-law, Matthew Pallwitz.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Bridges of Ankeny and Unity Point Hospice for their care and support of Peg and her family.
