The Life of NELDA A PAOLINI

Nelda Ann (Harting) Paolini, 87, of Spring Township passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 in her residence surrounded by her loving family.  She was the widow of Dr. Mauro J. Paolini, who passed away in August of 2014.  Nelda was also predeceased by her daughter, Lisa who passed away in March of 2010. Nelda was born on July 27, 1934, in Reading, and was the daughter of Floyd Eugene and Ruth E. (Eberly) Harting. Nelda graduated from Shillington High School, where she was valedictorian of her class of 1952.  She furthered her education at Albright College completing her bachelor’s degree in biology in three years graduating with honors in 1956.  After college, she was employed for a short period of time by Reading Hospital as a medical technician before raising her five children. In addition to her family, Nelda had many interests including sewing, quilting and gardening.  She also enjoyed playing bridge and was certified as a junior master by the American Contract Bridge League.  Nelda was a past board member of The Garden Club of Reading and actively involved with the Embroiderers’ Guild of America, Berks County Chapter.  She was also involved, for many years, with the Staff Wives of Reading Hospital in many volunteer endeavors. Nelda is survived by her children: Michael J. (Rebecca), of Sinking Spring; David A. of Wyomissing; Matthew J. (LeeAnn) of Wyomissing; and Steven M. (Marion) of New York City.  She is also survived by her grandchildren:  Christopher, Evan, Benjamin, Lucy and Elise; and her great-grandchildren: Hailey and Lillian.  Her sister Jane Wagner of Limerick also survives her. The family would like to acknowledge Home Instead Senior Care and Tower Health at Home for the exceptional and compassionate care provided by the many caregivers and nurses. The service will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 10:30 AM at Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA 19611, with a visitation starting at 9:30 AM.  The burial will be held at Gethsemane Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Children’s Home of Reading.  Condolences may be expressed at www.kuhnfuneralhomes.com
