The Life of Elmer Louis Pingleton Jr

Elmer Louis Pingleton, Jr., 83, of Gardner, KS passed away June 12, 2017. Funeral service 11:00 am Fri., June 16, 2017 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS (913) 856-7111. Burial follows at Olathe Memorial Cemetery, Olathe, KS. Visitation 10:00 am before the service also at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc. Elmer was born August 8, 1933 in Alton, MO to Elmer Louis, Sr. and Julie Ann (Deckard) Pingleton. He grew up in Alton, MO and later moved to KCMO where he graduated from Northeast High School. Elmer married Helen Marrie Johnson on August 2, 1952 in Alton. They moved to Gardner 12 years ago. He worked for 27 years at Proctor and Gamble, was a shift engineer in a power plant and then owned H&E Co., a locksmith company, for 30 years. Elmer was a member of Free Will Baptist Church in Alton. He was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop #412 in Smithville, MO and a member of the tribe of Mic-O-Say. Elmer enjoyed woodworking and genealogy. He will be missed by family and friends.

Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Mary Johnston, Golden P. Pingleton, Odas Pingleton and Bob Jean Pingleton; granddaughter, Jennifer Arterburn and great-grandson, Jeremy Beard. He is survived by his wife; children: Deborah and Terry Gross of Olathe, KS, Robin and Mark Enke of Gardner, KS, Terry and Lorie Pingleton of Hamilton, MO and Timothy Pingleton of Olathe,KS; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
