The Life of Frederick H. Williams

Frederick H. Williams, 81, of Drexel Hill, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2017.

Born in Roanoke, Virginia to the late Richard and Dorothy Williams on April 25, 1936, he was also predeceased by his wife, Nancy J. (nee Fawley) and siblings Richard (Joan) Williams and Dorothy (Thomas) Young. Fred was a graduate of Upper Darby High School, class of ‘54 and then served in the US Army.

Fred married Nancy in 1958 and graduated from Drexel University with a degree in civil engineering in June 1972, after working full time and taking night classes for 12 years. Throughout his career, Fred founded  F.H. Williams Engineering Inc  and  had worked for ARCO, Weston Solutions, the RHM Sewer Authority and RE Coleman Associates.

An avid Eagles and Phillies fan, Fred enjoyed watching the games each season with his family.  He was an animal lover who had many pets as a small boy including dogs, cats and a crow named “Jackson”.   Fred is survived by his daughters and sons-in- law, Deborah and Timothy Sloan, Virginia and Todd Videon, son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Kimberly Williams; grandchildren Megan and Chris Peterson, Debbie and Michael Maginnis, Alyssa and Andrew Solarz, Scott C. Williams, Timothy and Holly Sloan, Christopher Videon, Curtis B. Williams and Kylie Videon; great grandchildren, Haylee, Noah and Sloan.  Fred is also survived by brothers- in-law Thomas Young and William Fawley.

Visitation will be 10AM Thursday at the Toppitzer Funeral Home at Arlington, 2900 State Rd., Drexel Hill, with Funeral Services beginning at 11AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Neighborhood Hospice, 400 East Marshall Street, West Chester, PA 19380 or the Chester County SPCA 1212 Phoenixville Pike, West Chester, PA 19380.

The family wishes to thank the caring staff at the Neighborhood Hospice for their tireless efforts to keep Fred and his family welcome and comfortable at all times during his lengthy stay.   Bless you all.
