The Life of MARCINE YVONNE SANDIN

Marcine Stufflebeam Sandin, 90, passed away from this life into eternity, due to heart failure, on Saturday, December 10, 2016, in her home; attended to by her children. She was born in Ottumwa on July 16, 1926, to Custer and Goldie Stufflebeam. The family later moved to Des Moines.

A 1945 graduate of East High School, Marcine worked as a secretary for the State of Iowa and Apco Oil Company. A homemaker, she also worked as a bookkeeper for Kmart; from which she retired after twenty years of service.

On June 7, 1952, she married Harold Sandin, and they raised two children. Her fondest enjoyments in life were spending time with family; cooking; entertaining; attending church, high school reunions, and crafts shows.

Marcine was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Geraldine Redington and Joann Ghee; and husband, Harold. She is survived by her daughter, Jane Sandin; and son, James; cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2016, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Memorial gifts may be made either to Urban Heights Covenant Church or UnityPoint Hospice in loving memory of Marcine.
